Nottingham Forest manager Ange Postecoglou insists that any pressure regarding his position will not impact his methodology.

The team remains without a victory in his initial half-dozen games since the coach took over from Nuno Espirito Santo at the club's stadium.

A group of Forest supporters shouted, "you'll be dismissed in the morning", at the ex- Tottenham and Celtic manager following Thursday's 3-2 Europa League defeat at home to the Danish side.

Postecoglou's Reaction to Criticism

Postecoglou, however, stated that the Europa League trophy he secured at Tottenham the previous campaign, prior to being dismissed in the summer, was proof he does not allow pressure to affect his management.

"I don't think about it," he continued. "My duty involves ensuring this football club progresses and reaches a level where it can compete for things," stated Postecoglou.

"Should I begin putting timelines to that or stress over what is occurring next week then I am not performing the position I have been assigned.

"I believe it is helpful to anybody. Ultimately, I have to concentrate on the atmosphere, the practice sessions, the style of play, and as I said last night, I am still very, very strong in my belief that we are close to success.

"To explain - I knew I was getting sacked at Tottenham approximately three or four months before I was, but that didn't stop me from securing a trophy."

Career History

The veteran coach moved to Spurs from Celtic in 2023 and supporters at first embraced the Australian for his offensive playing style, with the London club finishing fifth in the English top flight during his first season.

Postecoglou's following season was challenging as Spurs finished fourth from bottom in the table. He nevertheless, lead the team to their initial silverware in nearly two decades as they beat Manchester United in the Europa League final.

Current Circumstances

Forest visit Newcastle United on the weekend (14:00 BST).

Amid the unfavorable streak of results, there is little doubt it has been a challenging start for Postecoglou.

And the numbers demonstrate just how disappointing Forest have been since his arrival.

Performance Analysis

  • In Postecoglou's six matches, they have been beaten four times across multiple competitions
  • No Premier League team has lost as many matches as Forest since his hiring
  • They have allowed 13 goals - at a average of 2.17 per game
  • Only Manchester United and Burnley have a poorer defensive per game average than Forest since Postecoglou's arrival
  • Unexpectedly, it is the 35th instance in which a top-flight manager has not secured a victory in any of first six fixtures in all competitions

Record Context

Paul Jewell holds the unenviable mark, having not won any of his initial twenty-seven games as Derby County manager in the 2007-2008 campaign.

Nuno was fired after just three fixtures of this season when Forest were 10th in the table. They are now seventeenth, having drawn one and been defeated twice of their three league matches under Postecoglou.

He is the first permanent Forest manager in 100 years not to secure a victory in his first six fixtures.

Fan Viewpoint

This campaign should have been one of Nottingham Forest's finest in recent times. Entry into Europe for the first time in three decades, the strongest team this millennium and all involved working towards the same direction.

Somehow, at least for now, that has completely vanished away. Nuno has left, displays have been abject and on the recent evening the City Ground criticized the recent appointment Ange Postecoglou after just six games.

And yet it's very much characteristic Forest, a team that veers from achievement to self-made disaster like a novice motorist who can't stay in a lane.

Upcoming Challenges

With games against Newcastle, Chelsea, the Portuguese side, the Cherries and Manchester United coming up, it's quite difficult to say if he can reverse the situation before it becomes even more negative.

But ask any supporter and they'll tell you the same, it's never dull at Nottingham Forest.
